The school had a 14th August celebration. All the children came dressed in green and white. The teacher gave each child a plant and said:
"Today we will make a pledge in the name of Pakistan."
Ahmed asked while planting a plant:
"Sir! What does this have to do with freedom?"
The Master smiled and said:
"Son! Just as a plant grows with hard work and care, so the country also grows with hard work."
Ahmed watered the plant and began to look after Rojas.
The plant became a tree. Ahmed smiled and remembered that day.
