It was the hazy dusk of the evening. As usual, Ahmad was lying face down on the sofa, playing a pointless video game on his tablet. His fingers tapped rapidly across the screen. There was exhaustion in his eyes and boredom across his face... Day and night, he remained trapped inside this glass box, oblivious to the chirping of birds peering through the window, devoid of the simple joy of turning the crisp pages of a real book.
Suddenly, the screen gave a strange jolt. The noisy rattle of the game faded into a soft, serene hum. Ahmad blinked in astonishment: right in the center of the display, a vibrant blue butterfly fluttered into view. Sparkling golden dust seemed to sprinkle from its wings. Slowly, before his very eyes, it gently stepped past the glass of the screen and drifted into the air of the room.
"Who are you, and where did my game disappear?" Ahmad asked, startled.
"I am a wanderer from the land of words," the butterfly replied, its voice sweet as melody. "You treat the screen merely as an idle toy for tapping fingers. Today, let me reveal to you what the true universe of stories looks like!"
The butterfly softly brushed against Ahmad’s fingertip. In an instant, the ceiling vanished into thin air. A gentle tremor shook Ahmad; his eyes shut for a heartbeat. When he opened them wide, he gasped in pure wonder.
He stood right in the heart of a lush green valley. On the surrounding branches, colorful alphabet letters dangled in place of ordinary leaves. A sparkling stream flowed nearby, carrying glowing words along its ripples instead of plain water. Rising proudly before him stood a magnificent, radiant castle. Across its entrance, the name Kahani Ghar shone brightly in resplendent golden script.
At the palace gateway, a gentle, wise elder stood smiling warmly, holding a pen. Swirling all around him were hundreds of cheerful, lively characters: over here, a noble lion was counseling a young kid; over there, three young detectives peered through magnifying glasses on the hunt for hidden clues; elsewhere, a bird was singing a melodic tune about honest hard work. Most wondrous of all, a tiny bell rested upon each character’s head; whenever it chimed, a spellbinding voice resonated, as if the story was narrating itself aloud.
"Is all of this real?" Ahmad asked, gently stroking a courteous little deer standing nearby.
"It is far more beautiful than mere reality!" the butterfly answered. "When you mindlessly swipe across glass, your mind tires out. But when you read and listen to true tales, your imagination takes flight. This world belongs to children like you who cherish the power of words."
With a soft flutter, the butterfly placed a luminous word into Ahmad's palm; inscribed upon it was the word: Thought.
A blinding flash illuminated the scene, and Ahmad sat up abruptly. He found himself right back on his family sofa, the tablet resting quietly before him. The idle game had vanished. Opened on the screen was the colorful website of Kahani Ghar, where soothing audio narrations for children softly played. The listless boredom in his gaze had melted away. Smiling, he put on his headphones and clicked to begin a brand-new adventure. To Ahmad, the screen was no longer a cold glass cage—it had become an open window to wonder.
