The arrival of the 14th of August, where the joy of freedom doubles, also invites a thought to remember! When our elders migrated and reached this land, what will be their feelings?
My elders tell us that we left a lot on our land, but the memory of which made us anxious was our horse 'Dildar'. He was raised by our grandfather with great love. A childhood friend of Dada's was Bansi Lal, he came to drop our family to the border. This horse was also with him. Some child would sit on it. After traveling for several days, when the time of separation came, i.e. the border was reached, Dildar turned away. He became an idol of silence. There were tears in his eyes. Dada patted his back, gave love, but he kept turning away. Dada told Bansilal to take good care of my little one. Give him the grass he likes, take care of his water. He assured Dada not to worry. Khan sir! I will take care of him like you, but like my own children, I will provide for all his needs. This is your sign with me. He lovingly held Dildar's bag. Dildar, who was running headlong, was walking dead. Now Bansi and Dildar were facing East and Dada was facing West. Our family crossed the border line and reached the Pak land and offered prostration. He did not forget anything, Allah blessed him with everything here, but he could not forget Dildar. His form would be seen in Khabi's dream, his laughter would be heard in Khabi's ears. There was a picture of her with her grandfather. We kept it decorated in the sitting room for a long time. Dada used to wait for Bansilal's letter, which contained only heartfelt words. This process continued for many years, but then there was no grandfather, no bansi, and no one to tell about the well-being of Dildar.
Long live Pakistan.
