The Soft Stone

Near the edge of a village, there was a small house. A young girl named Zainab lived there with her mother. Zainab had a very soft and kind heart. However, the people around her often seemed hard and didn't care about others. Poverty was normal in the village, but the hardest thing was how people didn't feel any empathy.

One day, Zainab saw an old man sitting by the road. His clothes were dirty, and his face showed he was very tired. He was asking everyone who passed by for some water, but no one listened to him. Some people even laughed as they walked by.

Seeing this made Zainab feel very sad. She immediately went home, brought a glass of water and some bread, and sat next to the old man. She kindly offered him the water. Tears came to the old man's eyes. His hands were shaking as he took the water and said, "My daughter, today you have made me feel like I am a human again."

These words shocked Zainab. She started thinking: why have people become so cold? Have their hearts really turned into stones?

In the same village, there was a rich man named Saleem. He had a lot of money, but his heart was very hard. He looked down on poor people and never helped anyone. People would come to his door with hope, but they always went back sad.

One day, Saleem fell very sick. He had many servants in his house, but no one sat with him with true feelings. He lay alone in his room, and for the first time, he realized that money is not everything.

During this time, Zainab found out about his illness. Without any hesitation, she went to his house and started taking care of him. Saleem was surprised that a girl from the village, whom he had always treated badly, was now serving him.

In a few days, Saleem started getting better, but a strange and good change had come to his heart. He asked Zainab, "Why did you help me? I was never useful to anyone."

Zainab replied with a smile, "Just being a human is enough reason. If we don't help each other, then what is the meaning of our humanity?"

These words went straight to Saleem’s heart. He decided to change his life. After that day, he helped the poor, listened to their problems, and was kind to everyone.

The village people were shocked: how did such a hard man change? But the truth was that a gentle girl’s small good deed had woken up a sleeping heart.

Lesson: This story teaches us that no matter how strong hardness is, love and sympathy can melt it. Sometimes, one small good act changes someone’s whole life.
