In a beautiful part of a deep forest lived a little squirrel named Chamki and a naughty rabbit named Mannu. They both lived in the same tree; Chamki lived in the tree, and Mannu lived in a burrow under its roots. They were best friends. Chamki was very fast and smart, and Mannu was very quick and beautiful. They spent most of their time playing, running, and talking. They were old friends. Since they ate similar food, there was no reason for them to fight. But they had a big problem: a black cat named Jhapati!
Jhapati was a very clever and mean cat. She liked to follow Chamki and Mannu. She loved to tease them. She was very jealous of their friendship. Whenever they laughed, Jhapati felt very angry. Their strong friendship and peaceful life were the reasons for her jealousy. She was always looking for a chance to attack them, but she could not do it yet because Chamki the squirrel spent most of her time in Mannu the rabbit’s burrow.
One day, when Chamki was resting in her soft nest, Jhapati the cat saw a chance. She found her alone and jumped at her to attack. But because Chamki was quick and could sense danger early, she barely managed to save her life. However, she lost her tail; the cat’s claws caught only her tail. Chamki ran and hid in Mannu’s burrow.
"This cat will not let us live!" Chamki said in fear, and she told Mannu everything. "We are scared of Jhapati every day. Look... one day she will kill you, my friend," Chamki said sadly.
"Yes, that is true. We must do something!" Mannu said in worry.
"But what...?"
"Move away... We should leave this forest!" Mannu said firmly.
"But where will we go...?" Chamki was worried.
"To my great-grandfather’s forest... My father often told me that if you go straight to the south of the forest, after a week’s travel, you will find my great-grandfather’s forest... Everyone lives there with love," Mannu said. After thinking, both of them made a plan.
The next day, they left quietly. Their goal was to reach their destination, where there was hope for peace and safety. But as soon as they started walking, Mannu heard a soft sound behind them.
"Chamki... I think someone is following us!" Mannu said in a shaky voice.
Chamki looked back, and her heart beat fast. She saw Jhapati!
"She... she... she is Jhapati..." Chamki said fearfully. A wave of fear ran through them.
"Keep walking for now... Jhapati thinks we don't know... but we must be very careful," Mannu said, and he increased their speed.
While walking, they reached a deep river, which had an old and weak wooden bridge. Fast water was flowing underneath.
"This bridge looks broken, we might fall!" Mannu said in worry.
"Be brave, we have to go!" Chamki replied.
Chamki quickly caught a vine like a rope and swung to the other side, but Mannu was still unsure. Suddenly, Jhapati’s voice came from behind, "Where are you going, my little snacks?" Mannu felt as if lightning had struck him. He stepped on the bridge out of fear, but as soon as he reached the middle, Jhapati jumped to attack him. The old bridge began to creak and shake.
"Mannu, run!" Chamki shouted. Mannu used all his strength and jumped, barely reaching the other side. Because of Jhapati’s weight, the bridge began to fall. Jhapati let out a scary scream and fell into the fast river. Soon, she disappeared from their sight. After a while, the sounds of Jhapati’s screaming also faded away.
"We finally escaped from her!" Mannu sighed with relief.
After a tiring journey, they reached the other end of the forest. This place was truly amazing! The animals there welcomed them with open hearts. Nirmala the deer gave them fresh water to drink, Bhoolu the elephant offered to let them stay with him, and Chakli the bird made a beautiful nest for Chamki on a tree. And under the same tree, Mannu was allowed to make a burrow. No one bothered anyone here; everyone took care of each other.
"This is the place we were looking for!" Chamki said while telling her story. All the animals of the new forest were listening to her story with interest.
"If troubles start increasing in life, do not lose hope, but find a better path. If you face trials with bravery, patience, and intelligence, Allah opens better paths," Bhoolu the elephant said, and he picked Mannu up with his trunk. He started screaming out of fear. All the animals laughed out loud
