Once upon a time, there lived a young man named Basit in a village at the foot of a distant mountain. He was fond of magical stories since childhood. Most of all he was inspired by the stories of the enchanted forest of Prastan. The elders of the village used to say that there are fairies living in this forest who help the righteous people and who have endless magical powers, but the path to this forest was very difficult and full of dangers. Basit had always heard these stories and thought that if he had the chance, he would definitely explore this magical forest.
One day Basit got an old book from an old man of his village. In this book the path of the forest and many important things were written about it. He decided that he would go on this expedition. No matter how difficult the path is, he will definitely go here. For his journey he took some food and drink and a small leather shield. He bid farewell to his villagers and set out in search of the magical forest of Prastan.
The journey to Basit began with a mountain path that led to dense forests. The first day's journey was relatively easy, but as night fell, the scenery of the forest began to change. There was a strange smell in the air and a faint light spread everywhere. Basit saw that the creatures like tiny jagans were shining on the branches of the trees. He was surprised and realized that he had reached the enchanted forest.
The next morning he resumed his journey. He had only gone a short distance when he encountered a large and formidable tree. The tree blocked Basat's path with its long roots. Basit recalled reading in the book that the trees of the forest give way when they are spoken to with love and respect. He bowed before the tree and said:
O elder tree! I'm looking for an enchanted forest to meet fairies, please guide me.”
The tree made a small sound and pulled back its roots. The way was open for Basit.
His journey was even more difficult. As he went further, the forest was getting more mysterious. On the way he met many strange creatures. Sometimes he was welcomed by fairies of flowers blooming on the banks of a lake, sometimes guided by bright deer. He was treated with love and kindness everywhere. Therefore, the magical secrets of the forest were revealed to him.
Finally on the third day he reached a place where light and colors were scattered everywhere. This was the place which was said to be the most hidden part of the forest. Under the shining tree stood Noorani, the queen of the fairies. Basat was amazed by her beauty and magical aura.
Queen Noorani said to him:
"O youth! You have traveled through this forest with your bravery, love and sincerity. We the fairies of Peristan appreciate your courage.
Basit bowed down to greet the queen of the fairies and offered his request that he would take the stories of this magical forest and tell it to the world so that there would be hope and joy in the hearts of the people.
Queen Noorani gave Basit a shining stone and said:
This stone will always show you the path of light and love. Go and tell the world that the enchanted forests have the power to change the hearts of men.”
Basit kept that stone close to his heart and started traveling back to the village. People were soon to hear stories of the Enchanted Forest.
