The Lesson of Mittho

Listen

Maryam had a pet cat named Mittho, whom she adored. She cared for him with the tenderest devotion, and in return, Mittho was her constant shadow. If he couldn’t find Maryam, he would grow restless, pacing and searching until he heard her voice or felt her touch. Maryam, always protective, would gently lecture him: "Mittho, you must never wander out into the street. There are big, stray dogs out there, and they are not kind. If they were to hurt you, what would I do? Please, listen to me and stay safe inside—that way, we can both be happy."

Mittho spent his days playing throughout the house. Maryam had gifted him several toys, including a bright, colorful ball that he would playfully bat around the floor with his paws. Around his neck, he always wore a distinctive blue ribbon, which perfectly complemented his vibrant ginger coat. He was a handsome cat, his fur a brilliant shade of deep, golden red, making him the absolute darling of the entire household.

One afternoon, however, curiosity got the better of Mittho. Forgetting Maryam’s warnings, he slipped out into the street. Maryam was in her room, deeply focused on her schoolwork, and no one else in the house noticed his absence. The street was quiet; the midday sun beat down on the deserted path, and all the doors were firmly shut.

Mittho had only just reached the neighbor’s wall when, without warning, a massive, brown dog with a menacing jaw rounded the corner. Seeing the creature sprinting toward him, Mittho let out a terrified screech. He scrambled back toward his house, panting and trembling, and dashed through the hallway, diving straight into Maryam’s room.

When Maryam saw his disheveled, shivering state, her heart sank. She understood immediately what had happened. She rushed to the door and looked out into the street, just in time to see the large, hulking dog disappearing around the corner.

She turned back to Mittho, who was still trembling from head to tail, his tail puffed up in fear. Maryam knelt down and said with a gentle, knowing smile: "Those who do not heed the advice of those who care for them are bound to find trouble. I warned you, Mittho, but you didn't listen. Thank goodness you are safe now. Promise me you will never go out into the street alone again. In return, I promise that I will take you out for walks on a leash whenever I can."

Hearing this, Mittho pressed himself against her feet, purring softly as if to say, I promise, I will never leave without your permission again.

Maryam laughed, scooping him up into her arms, and whispered, "Oh, my sweet, clever Mittho!"

I hope this version captures the warmth and moral essence of your story. Would you like me to adjust the tone to be either more whimsical or perhaps more suspenseful?
