In a very old time, in a city, people used to make clay and stone idols and worship them.
A very intelligent and brave boy lived in this city. The name was "Abraham".
Abraham's father used to make idols. There were big idols in the shop. Some of wood, some of clay.
One day Ibrahim asked his father:
"Abu! These idols cannot speak, cannot eat, cannot help anyone... so why do people worship them?"
Father said: "Son this is the way of our elders"
Abraham thought. They would look at the sky at night. Moon, stars, sun. Then they would say: "My Lord is He who created all this."
A big festival took place in the city. Everyone went to see the fair. The idols were left alone in the temple.
Abraham got a chance. He went to the temple with an axe.
All the idols except the biggest idol were broken! Cut to pieces.
An ax hung around the neck of the big idol.
When the people returned, they shouted: "Who broke our idols?"
Someone said: "We heard Abraham talking about idols."
The people caught Ibrahim and asked: "Did you break our idols?"
Ibrahim smiled and said:
"That big idol is standing. Ask him. He may have broken it. He has an ax in his hand too."
People started looking at each other. A wise man said: "They can't even speak."
Ibrahim said: "Then why do you worship those who cannot even support themselves?"
People were very angry. They decided to burn Ibrahim in the fire.
A huge fire was lit. So big that even the birds did not go near.
Abraham was thrown into a burning fire with the intention of burning him.
But Allah commanded the fire: *"O fire! Be cool and peaceful for Abraham."
And Allah wanted to show a miracle with His power through Ibrahim (peace be upon him).
The fire became a rose garden. Abraham sat peacefully in it and worshiped Allah. Not a single hair of them was burnt.
Everyone was surprised to see this miracle.
Dear children!
"Only Allah is worthy of worship. He is the Sustainer and Helper of all. Allah never leaves the one who follows the path of truth alone."
Allah made Ibrahim (peace be upon him) his "Khalil" i.e. the best friend.
